We claim that new lexical measures between ontology entity names are needed, and show the results of an evaluation of a simple heuristic.

We evaluate the impact on both metrics of using translation dictionaries and lexical resources to extend the heuristics based on lexical measures.

The rest of this paper is organized as follows. Firstly, Sect. 2 recalls the notion of hyponymy in ontologies and some salient properties. Next, Sect. 3 proposes and evaluates a lexical measure on entity names, and Sect. 4 extends it with the use of translation dictionaries and lexical resources. Then, Sect. 5 evaluates empirically the impact of shared properties in hyponymy relationships, and Sect. 6 extends it with the use of translation dictionaries and lexical resources. Finally, Sect. 7 overviews some related work and Sect. 8 sets out some conclusions and ideas for future work.
